Task Properties

Tip:

A Task is a set of options that define what files should be copied, where to, how often, etc.

There are several (sub)sections of the Task properties window, which can be shown by selecting the respective (sub)category in the panel on the left. Click on the links below to find more information about each (sub)category:

General - Show/specify the Task's name, primary action, and user authentication if applicable

2.

Source - Show/specify the source folder(s)

3.

Destination - Show/specify the destination resource

4.

File Filters - Show/specify the files to be included in (excluded from) your backup

5.

Compression - Show/specify the settings for compression: filename, password, etc.

6.

Encryption - Show/specify the settings for encryption: algorithm, password, etc.

7.

Old Versions - Show/specify what to do with old file versions

8.

Obsolete Files - Show/specify what to do with obsolete files

9.

Options - Show/specify several uncategorized Task options

10.

Error Handling - Show/specify the error-handling settings

11.

Autorun and Schedule - various Task triggers

11.1.

      Internal Schedule - Task run times and frequency

11.2.

      Media SmartDetect - Run the Task on a specified medium, when detected

      Folder Monitor - Run the Task when folder contents change

11.4

      Hot Key - Run the Task with a Windows-wide global Hot Key

11.5

      MS Task Scheduler - Run the Task under MS Task Scheduler

Advanced - Advanced options to override the defaults, if necessary

      Run Programs - Run external programs before and/or after the Task

12.2.

      Auto Dial - Establish connection to remote computers

12.3.

      Hardware Profile - Skip the Task on some Hardware Profiles

12.4.

      Limit Bandwidth - Limit maximum data transfer rate

12.5.

      Task Password - Protect the Task's settings with a password

12.6.

      Log Settings - Log file name, size and contents

12.7.

      Event Alerts - Alert the user to various Task events

12.8.

      CPU Performance - Tweak the Task-related CPU performance

12.9.

      Power Management - Power-related settings for the Task

12.10.

      Email Settings - Email notification settings for the Task

Note:
The first time GrandBackup performs a Task, it processes files as specified. In subsequent runs, it only copies those files that are newer or updated since the previous run of the Task.
